Are You Living in a Filter Bubble

Are You Living in a Filter Bubble

Q How many of us use social media on a daily basis? I´m sure that it is almost all of us. and I am sure all of us are seeing through a filter bubbles. If you are a Snapchat user, you should know that Snapchat has a page of daily news and articles relating from the Kardashians to CNN. The more you use Snapchat and the Internet on your phone, the news articles that pertain more to your life start to appear first. If you have an iPhone, there is a News application that came with one of the new updates about a year ago. When you click into this news app, you first must take a survey so that the app can detect which news it will present to you first and which will be better suited for you. Would everyone prefer to take time before they use every app to take a survey so that there is still a filter bubble but you are more in control of it? Or do you like it being done automatically for you? Or perhaps you do not like it at all. Now take your first opinion and compare it to that of Bill Gates. One of the smartest men in the world, Gates says that filter bubbles are a serious problems especially with the news. Gates believes that the filter bubbles segregates people into like-minded communities. Which Eli said in the Ted Talk as well. His Facebook was filtered so that he only saw his Liberal friends posts, and not the rest, which leads him to only think in one kind of way. It also effects things such as job opportunities due to information segregation. Bill Gates thinks the filter bubble problem will self correct over time. But the question is, how long until we solve it? Give this article a read and discuss your thoughts about the news and filter bubbles. Would you rather take time to do a survey for everything, or let it self adjust? https://qz.com/913114/bill-gates-says-filter-bubbles-are-a-serious-problem-with-news/

I think that most of the social media usage comes with regular filter bubbles. It is important for every social media user to ensure that there is a priority set for the customer. Otherwise, there can be problems like not being able to see or view a stereotyped set of news articles and news videos or audios as per the likes of the customers. I think that I would like the filter bubbles to self adjust because I feel that I would not take time to do a survey. This is because I feel that most customers would want it that way so that preferences of customers are automatically synchronized (Seargeant & Tagg, 2018).
